AGM 2008
The 2008 AGM will be held in Inverness on Monday 30 June with the Town House as the most likely venue. The informal part is expected to start at 1130 and will finish at 1315; Iain Coucher, Chief Executive of Network Rail and Nigel Harris, Managing Editor of RAIL magazine, have accepted invitations to speak. The AGM proper will probably start at 1445.
We are in the process of arranging visits to rail facilities on the preceding Saturday and Sunday. These are expected to include the signalling centre and carriage works at Inverness, and a trip (probably Sunday lunch) on the Strathspey Railway from Aviemore. It is thought likely that there will be some pub-related activities as well. See 'AGM Activities' page.
On Tuesday 1 July Bullied Southern Railway streamlined Pacific , "Manson" will be in steam on the Strathspey Railway. This is an unusual and prestigious event celebrating the locomotive exchanges of 1948.
The formal notification for the AGM will be posted on Monday 2 June. If any Members wish to propose an item for inclusion it must be in the hands of the Secretary no later than Saturday 24 May so that it may be included (Article 9.7 of the Constitution).
Members are invited to a Winter Meeting on Friday 14 March when Mr Gordon Casely from Aberdeen will give a well-illustrated talk
extending from the North East across to Kyle and south to the Forth Bridge. This will be held at 19.30 in the lounge of the Crown Church, Kingsmills Road, Inverness.
Crown Church is at the top of Stephens Brae above the Eastgate Centre and at the junction of Midmills Road and Kingsmills Road. There is a small car park between the church and Crown Primary School. The lounge is the low building adjacent to the car park and that (garden) entrance to the church should be used.
