Carved stone head
The Editor has been approached by a local historian/archaeologist for information on a carved stone head on bridge number 39 over the railway between Muir of Ord and Conon Bridge.
The old bridge was replaced about 25 years ago and the Editor remembers reading in the local press about the discovery of the carving and the decision to mount it in a prominent place on the new bridge.
Apparently a trawl through the archives of the Ross-shire Journal hasn't brought anything to light; can anyone help? If the carving is important then it would be better if it was protected because it is showing signs of significant weathering since it was located in its new home.
