Housekeeping Notes
1 The AGM will be held in Thurso on Saturday 14 July, as already informally indicated. Formal notification will be sent out as required by the Constitution around the middle of June. Mary Dickson, Managing Director of First ScotRail, has agreed to be one of the guest speakers. Neither Ron McAulay nor David Simpson (the two senior people in Network Rail in Scotland) will be in Scotland that weekend, and the Committee is still seeking a Network Rail speaker.
2 Planning the social events for the weekend of 14/15 July continues to fill the waking hours of the Committee. As you may know, we had hoped to organise a trip to Sanday to visit the Light Railway, but this has now closed, so a two-night stay in Orkney is no longer planned. A day trip, however, is still a possibility.
3 Subscriptions for 2007 (which now run from 1 January to 31 December as a result of the change to the Constitution made at the 2006 AGM) should be paid by 31 March. Since this is the first year of the change the Committee has decided to extend this until Saturday 22 April. Any member who has failed to pay by that date will be deemed to have lapsed their membership, and will not be entitled to the May Newsletter, nor to attend the AGM. Further reminders will not be issued. Please help the Membership Secretary by renewing as soon as possible if you have not already done so. A renewal form was included with the January Newsletter. If you have mislaid yours please contact the Membership Secretary as soon as possible so that another may be sent.
