Annual General Meeting 2006
As requested at the 2005 AGM we are announcing the date of the 2006 AGM as taking place in the Marine Hotel, Brora on the 25th November with a Presidential Address from John Thurso and an address from Bill Reeve, Director Rail Delivery, Transport Scotland.
Your committee has decided to change the venue of the AGM from a previously indicated venue in Thurso to the Marine Hotel to improve accessibility to the AGM to the wider membership.
The formal meeting will commence at 1415 after members have had lunch at 1300. The hotel will have available a selection of light lunches.
There will be publicised, at the appropriate time, proposals to amend the Constitution and these will be (1) to change the date of the AGM from "in the last quarter of each calendar year" to "during May, June or July" and (in order to facilitate this) (2) to change the year of the Friends from "1 April to 31 March" to "1 January to 31 December".
We would hope that these suggestions, if accepted, will enable members from whichever airt greater enjoyment in being able to travel on the line in daylight and perhaps persuade those who are not local to stay on for a few days.
