Highland Rail Partnership Gains Publicity Nationwide
Part of my regular 'railway' reading material includes "Railstaff" (the industry's select newspaper). Published primarily for everyone involved with the rail industry, and these days half the pages are taken up with job advertisements; it is possible for outsiders to get hold of a copy.
Imagine my delight on opening Issue 55, June 2002 to be confronted by a picture of Frank Roach beaming out at me from the centre pages. Under the banner heading "New Century News Makers" they carried out an in depth interview with Frank on his job and it was very well done.
Frank obviously made a big impression because in his editorial, addressed to the, then, newly appointed Alastair Darling, the Editor offered the following advice, "Talk to the people who run the railways and are wildly enthusiastic about them and be sure to meet people like Eddie Fitzsimmons, Clive Williams, Frank Roach and Chris Garnett."
