Fund Raising
Fund raising is a topic that regularly appears on the agenda of our committee meetings and each time more pressing matters attract our attention.
However, it can't be put altogether and so we are addressing you, our members, if you have any ideas. Now, of course, we recognise the problem with asking for ideas is that whilst you might have some very good ideas you are put off from volunteering them for fear that we will suggest that you put them into practice. True, we would be tempted to do that, but at the same time we recognise that we have our duty as a committee and would take our share of the responsibility of putting the ideas into practice. Our finances have been quite stable as you will see from the Annual Accounts but we feel that by fund raising we will raise the profile of the Friends and in that way generate a bigger membership and generate even more funds.
It could be that someone out there has experience of fundraising and can warn us of some of the pitfalls and save us from 're-inventing the wheel'.
Some of the ideas that the committee have briefly considered have been postcards/photographs, mugs, ties, lapel badges and notelets but none of us have had any experience of putting these ideas into practice.
So, It would be a great help to us to increase our publicity and at the same time generate some extra finances.
