Accolade for ScotRail and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra
ScotRail's sponsorship deal with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) has been commended at the 2009 Arts & Business Scotland Awards.
The accolade was in recognition of the success of the "Classical Tracks" initiative.
The train operator provides complimentary transport across Scotland for more than 80 orchestra players on a regular basis.
Graeme Macfarlan, marketing manager for ScotRail, said: "Our association with the RSNO has been a great success. Not only are we promoting sustainable travel to a wide audience but we are also opening doors for staff to experience live classical music of the highest standard."
Simon Woods, chief executive of the RSNO added. "I would like to thank ScotRail for their generosity and imagination. The partnership is helping us take the national orchestra across Scotland in an environmentally responsible way - and helping our audiences get to concerts without the stress of driving."
FoFNL member and web master, Ian Budd is Associate Principal Viola (a.k.a. Viola No2) of the RSNO or, to put it another way, right below the conductor's baton!
