Station Usage Statistics

The station usage statistics for 2010-11 are now on the website of the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR). As far as those relevant to the Far North Line are concerned, many, e.g., Thurso's, are virtually static. The increase at Dunrobin may be due more to the longer season than to a discount on admission tickets to the castle. The apparent almost doubling in the Invershin figure is, as usual, suspect. Kildonan has now taken the line's wooden spoon for being least used; Altnabreac was used by thirty passengers more during the year. Slightly worrying, perhaps, is an apparent fall in usage of Beauly. However, if the train is over-full and there is no one on the barrier at Inverness, there will be no ticketed and thus recorded entry to, or exit from, the station.
