Highland Main Line

Although the full improvements to the Highland Main Line (HML) are still some way off if we believe the political hype, we have been somewhat placated by the news that the December, 2012 timetable includes some journey time improvements between the Central Belt and Inverness but the three-hour barrier is still not broken. The best journey time is three hours, five minutes from Glasgow by one Sunday train. Only a handful of Edinburgh trains do the journey in under three-and-a-half hours.
