This is the latest news from Network Rail.
The Aberdeen to Inverness Improvement Project will be appointing the main contractor for the works in October 2015. We then anticipate that the final design stages for the various interventions along the route will commence with advance works on site starting in Spring 2016. Main construction works will start in Spring 2017 with Phase 1 of the project being delivered by March 2019.
The public will start to see preparatory works very soon, with the relocation of Forres station and the new fully accessible footbridge at Elgin being the first sites to be tackled.
In light of this we would invite interested members of the public to a drop in event in Elgin on Tuesday 13th October 2015, 3-7pm at Elgin Town Hall, 1 Trinity Place, Elgin, IV30 1UL or Forres on Wednesday 14th October 2015, 3-7pm at Forres House Community Centre, High Street, Forres, IV36 1BU.
As we are going to be working in the community, we want to offer the opportunity to ask what we are doing, when we are doing it and how it will benefit rail users. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions about the work at Elgin and Forres. If you can't make it on the night, please email any comments or questions to aberdeeninverness@networkrail.co.uk or call our Community Relations team on 03457 11 41 41.
