In 2024 FoFNL, in conjunction with Network Rail and ScotRail, commissioned a field investigation into the reasons that people who could be using the Far North Line choose not to.
No-one was expecting a "silver bullet" to be revealed. The purpose of the report was to provide a snapshot of views from those that live, work, or visit the area served by the railway.
The conclusions are far from surprising but should give Transport Scotland and the Scottish Government pause for thought.
